Hardware and LW 4.0 aside, I'd like to ask the advice of those of you
who are independent animators out there. I've been using Lightwave and the
Toaster in-house since the Neolithic Period, but my current employer is
both too cheap and disinterested in using the video [ you'd think a NASA
contractor would be on the cutting edge -- and we are, the cutting edge of
1985 ] to keep up with Newtek upgrades.
I really want to stick with the video and 3D work and have been
considering going out on my own. But not having inherited RJR Nabisco, it
comes down to money. I'm willing to make the investment if I could bring in
paying work.
My problem -- and what I'm asking advice on -- is: How do you successful
independent video/LW gurus market and establish a client base?
I know I'm asking you to add one more person to the competition, but
have mercy: I'm just a po' boy from Cleveland who wants all the cool LW
toys everyone on this list seems to have 8^).
